Cocktail Recipe: Blackstrap Mojito

Hot summer nights call for a cool, refreshing mojito. This one is made with our Blackstrap, which is a new-make rum that we can’t call a rum because it hasn’t been aged for the minimum one year required by food labeling laws. It’s also really good with our aged Blackstrap Rum, where the barrel aging brings out some nifty coconut flavours, but most of the time we prefer to let the taste of blackstrap molasses shine through, for which the new make is best.

Muddle together in a highball glass:

  • 8-10 mint leaves

  • 1 teaspoon maple syrup

  • juice of 1/2 lime (1 tablespoon)

Add:

Stir gently, and enjoy with friends!

Blackstrap, and the aged Blackstrap Rum are both available in our bottle shop in Vaughan, or can be ordered online for delivery anywhere in Canada.
